A study from Deakin University showed mothers of children aged one to three completed 4.5 hours of physical activity spread throughout the day. Active monitors were placed on 163 mothers from Melbourne and Geelong to find these results.
- Mothers spent 268 minutes a day in all forms of physical movement, but just 36 minutes was more high intensity running, cycling or walking.
- Their children did five hours of exercise, including 75 minutes of vigorous running, jumping and climbing.
- Mothers and their children are more active in the mornings.
- Mothers complete 9 minutes of activity in the evenings, compared with 25 minutes by their young children.
