Research by EUMom on 3,376 Irish mothers has shown that women are now the key decision makers in their household’s finances. The EUmom managing director says that mums are the biggest spenders, they are also key-decision makers and can influence other mums.
Their research found that:
- 70% of women make key decisions on spending in their home including car purchases.
- 70% of all spending is accounted for by families.
- 98% of all bills/ budgeting in the home is taken care of by mums.
- When choosing a family holiday mums do the research.
- Mums mostly manage the household savings are the deciders in areas such as health insurance.
- Two Thirds of families are spending more on their weekly grocery shops due to price increases, and mums are looking for ways to save money in this area.
