Young Australian adults aged 18-25, are becoming more satisfied with their life when compared to older adults 76+, the Australian Unity Wellbeing index shows. Personal wellbeing can be affected by many external factors; however, the young adults of Australia are proving to be more resilient from those negative life experiences.
These statics are demonstrating an uplifting change for Australia and give a good insight into the mindset of the future generations of parents:
Key findings of the Australian Unity Wellbeing index include:
- From 2002 – 2017 life satisfaction levels of young Australians have increased 4.4 per cent (from 73.4 in 2002 to 77.8 out of 100 in 2017).
- Among Australians, happiness levels can also be associated with lifestyle factors such as marital status.
- The index has highlighted that maintaining and developing relationships is a key to positive wellbeing. Wellbeing domains such as: personal safety, community, connectedness and standard of living have improved significantly since 2002 among young Australians.
- However, when referring to digital technology and social media young people tend to attach themselves, creating an isolated generation.
For marketers, knowing that young people are optimistic and have a bright outlook will help them shape brand messages, best ways of communicating and positive relationships that are more engaging and relevant to the audience they wish to target.
